At Young Kings & Queens Foundation, we believe the best classroom is the community.
Pathways 2 Independence is an experience-based program designed to help participants develop everyday life skills while building confidence through real-world experiences.
Instead of simply talking about life skills, we practice them together by exploring our communities, trying new experiences, solving real-life challenges, and celebrating every success along the way.
Every participant has unique goals. Our program focuses on helping each person grow at their own pace while learning practical skills they can use every day.
We don't believe learning only happens in a classroom.
We believe learning happens when people experience life.
Whether we're shopping for groceries, preparing a meal, visiting a museum, volunteering, or practicing restaurant etiquette, every experience becomes an opportunity to build confidence and independence.
Our goal isn't simply to teach life skills.
Our goal is to help participants confidently live life.
Participants build confidence through hands-on learning that prepares them for everyday life, employment, and active participation in their community.
Compare prices, shop with a budget, and make healthy choices.
Practice ordering, paying, tipping, and communication.
Learn about saving, budgeting, and financial responsibility.
Plan, prepare, and enjoy meals together.
Give back while building teamwork and leadership.
Explore new places while learning through real-life experiences.
Practice workplace and career skills.
Discover community resources and lifelong learning.
Build confidence through outdoor activities and teamwork.
Every experience is designed to strengthen communication, decision-making, confidence, and independence while learning in real-world environments.
Participants who benefit from one-on-one support can receive personalized instruction focused on their individual goals.
Services may take place at home or within the community depending on the participant's plan and needs.
Participants who enjoy learning with others may participate in our weekly community experience program.
Although everyone participates in the same activity, each participant works toward their own individual goals with staff support.
